CIVIL PROJECT ENGINEER

Kevitt Companies is a fast-growing, high-energy company headquartered in Crystal, MN. Our Company specializes in demolition, earthwork, deep foundations, and site utilities. We are seeking qualified applicants whose primary role will be coordinating planning, development, and completion of projects ensuring client satisfaction. Project Engineers are involved in estimating, buyout, submittals, and change management and will have frequent interaction with general contractor/client, engineers and suppliers. The level of involvement depends on specific project needs, Project Manager needs. While primarily an office position, a Project Engineer may spend time at the job site as necessary to meet project demands.

Responsibilities

  • Obtain and maintain all necessary construction permits
  • Perform quantity take-offs and assist in estimating reviewing plan and specifications, gathering quotes and submittals
  • Review shop drawings/submittals to identify risk/opportunity
  • Ensure project engineering activities comply with company and contract requirements.
  • Interface with on-site construction crews as required ensuring safety is maintained, quality of construction, adherence to the overall project schedule, and tracking productivity goals
  • Monitor and report construction work progress, quantities, and daily labor. Identify any variance from the project Plan
  • Assist the Project Manager with change orders, scheduling, invoicing, and reviewing job costs
  • Assist with ordering and delivering materials to the job site ensuring they are in sync with the project schedule
  • Gain a working understanding of budgets, cost accounting, invoices, contracts, and change orders to identify and track all cost issues, with input from the Project Manager as needed.
  • Additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications-Required

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or equivalent experience
  • Possess basic understanding of construction law and generally accepted business practices
  • General knowledge of estimating techniques, cost control and material pricing.
  • Competent in specification, plan, and drawing reading and interpretations.
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills, problem-solving and leadership skills
  • Proficient in MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and Internet Applications

Qualifications-Preferred

  • Experience in plan and specification development with construction contract administration.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Experience with public contact and presentations
  • AGTEK, Bluebeam, B2W, and Plangrid proficiency
